The world needs more of what you have to offer!
My son and I went out on a bike ride recently.
The particular bike I was riding requires a battery to change the gears.
The battery charge was so low that it only provided enough energy to access half of the gears.
Luckily, I made it home before completely draining the charge.
It was not the battery's fault - it's a great battery!
It was my "assumption" that it was sufficiently charged for the ride that was at fault; it was drained more than I was aware of.
The bible says in Revelation 3:1-2
I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God.
And then in Matthew 24:12-13:
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow
cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Similarly to my insufficiently charged battery, if unchecked, according to the bible, we ourselves can fall into one or both of these outcomes:
1) "Fall asleep at the wheel" with unfinished deeds
2) Have a love that grows cold over time
God is AWARE of our "battery charge" & calls us to attend to its condition.
So what are we to do?
ACTIVATE
But How?
ENGAGE YOUR GIFT!
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Romans 12:6-8

In our meeting this past Saturday, the discussion gradually became about using our professional talents to help our brothers and sisters in the developing world.
All of a sudden what happened was likened to the picture above.
Everyone WOKE UP!
It was like their button was pushed and they were now ACTIVATED!
I am not kidding!
You could feel the charge ~
The energy was contagious as we discussed the possibilities of using our gifts and talents to serve others.
I have never witnessed anything like this.
