It's your choice
Jun 18, 2026
Fifty-three years.
That's how long New York Knicks fans waited to celebrate another NBA Championship.
For more than five decades, there were disappointing seasons, injuries, missed opportunities, coaching changes, criticism, and countless reasons to believe it would never happen.
But championships aren't won by people who never face setbacks.
They're won by people who keep making choices.
Adjust. Learn. Improve. Repeat.
One of the biggest stories of this championship run was Jalen Brunson. At 6'2", he spent years hearing he was too small, not athletic enough, and unlikely to become a superstar. Every critic had an opinion. Every expert had a reason why someone else would be better.
He had a choice.
Believe the limitations or believe the dream.
Believe the doubters or believe the work.
Day after day, year after year, he chose the latter.
And eventually, the world caught up to what he already believed was possible.
Life works much the same way.
This week Facebook sent me a memory from eleven years ago. I had a horrific bike crash at nearly 35 miles per hour when my handlebars failed going downhill. I ended up battered, bleeding, and nursing a separated shoulder.
Years later, I crashed again and cracked my helmet.
Neither crash was fun.
But neither crash was the end of the story.
They were opportunities to make adjustments.
A better helmet. Better equipment. Wider tires. More visibility. More wisdom.
That's often how God works.
What looks like a setback is frequently a setup.
Not for defeat—but for growth.
As Henry Ford said, "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't—you're right."
Viktor Frankl wrote, "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one's attitude."
And Theodore Roosevelt reminded us, "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
The best experts on resilience all teach a similar lesson: don't wait until you feel ready. Don't wait until doubt disappears. Don't wait until confidence magically arrives.
Take the next step.
Confidence follows action.
Courage grows through use.
Progress belongs to those who choose to move forward despite uncertainty.
You'll still have tough days.
You'll still get discouraged.
You'll still wonder if you're enough.
But with God, you don't have to become a victim of your circumstances.
You can become an advocate for your future.
You can choose faith over fear.
You can choose growth over excuses.
You can choose possibility over limitation.
So what challenge are you facing today?
More importantly, what choice are you making about it?
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about your next step, let's talk. A discovery call could be the very choice that changes the trajectory of your life.
Because your future may not be determined by what happened to you.
It may be determined by what you choose next.
Much Love,
Dave
