Your "SEAT" Is Too LOW - That's All
Aug 26, 2025
I love bikes. I don’t know what it is, but they fascinate me. Whenever I travel to a new town, I don’t rush to the bars or restaurants—I go straight to the bike shop. I’ll spend hours talking with people about frames, tires, weight, gears, materials, and especially seats.
Here’s the thing: most people who say biking feels hard or un-fun aren’t actually “bad” at biking. They just have their seat too low. In fact, 95% of the time, the seat is set far lower than it should be. And when the seat is 3–8 inches too low, five things happen:
-
Reduced Power – You can’t extend your legs fully, which limits strength output.
-
Poor Efficiency – Every pedal stroke feels like work because your body isn’t in the optimal position.
-
Knee Pain – The low angle stresses your joints and leaves them sore.
-
Limited Speed – Without proper extension, you’re capped on momentum.
-
Frustration – You feel stuck, wondering why others glide by with ease.
The correct seat height changes everything. Ideally, when the pedal is at the bottom of its stroke, your leg should have a slight bend—around 25–35 degrees. That extension maximizes comfort, efficiency, and enjoyment. Suddenly the ride feels smoother, faster, and far more fun.
When I see kids riding bikes they’ve completely outgrown—knees practically hitting the handlebars, seat slammed down—it makes my heart drop. They’re not even maximizing the small bike they have. And that’s life, isn’t it? Sometimes we keep riding on “old bikes”—outdated systems, old routines, or low self-awareness. We struggle unnecessarily when small, simple, low-hanging fruit adjustments could immediately change our experience.
Maybe that’s you. It’s not a criticism—you just don’t know what you don’t know.
But here’s the bigger picture: how many things have you written off as “too hard,” when really you just needed an adjustment? Maybe your seat is too low in your job, your mindset, or your relationships. One small change—a new habit, a clearer system, a fresh perspective—might make the whole experience more enjoyable.
That’s where my framework comes in:
-
Enlightenment – Realizing: “If I adjust this, everything gets better.”
-
Engagement – Actually raising the seat and trying the new way.
-
Empowerment – Riding further, faster, with more joy—and telling others about it.
Is your ride in life feeling tougher than it should? Maybe all you need is a small adjustment. Let’s connect for a discovery call and see what happens. You may be surprised at how much more is possible when you simply raise the seat.
