“I really need to lose weight.”
“I really need to eat better.”
“I really need to get back to the gym.”
“I really need to be more disciplined.”
“I really need to start waking up earlier.”
“I really need to get serious about my faith.”
“I really need to stop procrastinating.”
Sounds familiar, right?
But here’s the truth:
“I really need to…” is a trap. It sounds sincere but keeps us stuck.
It gives the illusion of progress, while producing zero results.
As Jim Rohn once said:
“We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret.”
“I really need to…” is the language of regret.
It’s vague.
It's passive.
It allows us to delay action while convincing ourselves we’re doing something.
But in reality, we’re just carrying the same guilt and frustration into every new day, hoping that somehow motivation will rescue us.
It never does.
Now compare that with this mindset:
“I will.”
“I will go to the gym today.”
“I will make a healthy meal.”
“I will stick to my morning routine.”
“I will show up for what matters.”
“I will follow through.”
“I will make this change—starting now.”
There’s a click that happens when we say “I will.” It’s not about feelings—it’s about decision.
“I will” activates commitment. It puts us in the driver’s seat.
It eliminates debate and gives birth to discipline.
It leads to joy, momentum, confidence, and eventually, results.
As Tony Robbins says:
“A real decision is measured by the fact that you’ve taken a new action. If there’s no action, you haven’t truly decided.”
The shift from “I really need to…” to “I will” is the beginning of a new life.
It’s where change happens.
It’s where possibility lives.
What’s something you’ve been saying, “I really need to…” about?
Now say, “I will.”
Then go do it.
That’s when everything changes.
