Your "SHIFTER" is Broken

Sep 17, 2025

How are you handling the complexities of life and all the different hats that you wear?

Do you find it difficult to SHIFT from one thing to another?

With all the responsibilities and plates you’re spinning, do the lines between personal and professional life feel like they’re blending—less and less clear?

In other words, everything bleeds together. Work conversations creep into family dinners.

Family stress follows you back into the office. Even rest feels like one more item on your list. When the gears are no longer clear and distinct, life becomes one long, noisy grind.

Maybe your SHIFTER is broken.

When the shifter is broken in a car, you can still move the lever inside—but nothing connects to the transmission underneath. The gears blur, and the car fails to move as it should.

That happened to my own classic car.

On the surface, everything looked fine.

But hidden beneath the carpet, the shifter was broken.

Once replaced, the entire driving experience transformed—it was smooth, responsive, and powerful again.

Maybe that’s all that’s wrong in your life right now.

You’re not bad at your job. You’re not a poor parent. You’re not incapable of balance. It’s just that your shifter is broken—you’re not great at moving cleanly from one gear to another.

Think about it:

  • Walking in the door after work requires a SHIFT into family mode.

  • Spending time on a date requires a SHIFT into presence and connection.

  • Playing with your kids requires a SHIFT into patience and fun.

  • Even going to bed on time is a crucial SHIFT, preparing you for the next day.

When you don’t shift well, the results can be devastating—stalling, grinding, or drifting through life instead of moving with power and purpose.

How did Jesus shift gears? He knew when to heal, when to teach, when to rest, and when to pray. He moved with clarity between compassion, boldness, humility, and obedience. His most critical shift was surrender: “Not my will, but Yours be done.”

What if you could shift like that—smoothly, intentionally, and in step with God’s Spirit?

That’s where coaching comes in.

An objective coach helps you recognize the gears in your life, replace the broken shifter, and guide you toward sharper, healthier transitions.

Once repaired, life feels less like a grind and more like a great racetrack—where you can accelerate with confidence, maneuver with clarity, and run the race God has set before you.
