Life AAA - Little Help!?!
Sep 11, 2025
What does it mean to feel stranded in life?
It’s more than being stuck in traffic or waiting on a tow truck.
It’s that sinking feeling when your marriage feels distant, your relationships lack connection, your finances won’t stretch, your career stalls, or your productivity crashes.
On the outside, everything may look fine.
But on the inside, you’re sitting in the middle of life’s intersection with the engine off, wondering how you’ll ever get moving again.
What We Do When Stranded (That Doesn’t Work)
When people feel stranded, there are three common “go-to” responses that don’t actually help:
-
Pretend nothing is wrong. They polish the exterior and hope no one notices the smoke coming from under the hood.
-
Blame others. Spouses, bosses, kids, coworkers—someone must be the reason we’re stuck.
-
Push harder. We double down on old systems and sheer willpower, burning more energy but getting nowhere.
Each approach leaves us more discouraged, exhausted, and questioning if things will ever change.
My 60-Year-Old Car (and Me)
I own a 60-year-old Mustang convertible.
On the outside, it’s beautiful—fully restored, shining, and sharp.
But the breakdowns I’ve had haven’t been cosmetic; they’ve all been internal.
Not a mess under the hood, just failing parts you can’t see until they give out. A few months ago, my brakes went completely out—I was a runaway train until I yanked the emergency brake.
This week, it quit right in the middle of a store entrance.
That’s exactly how life can feel.
We can look like we’ve got it all together—smiling, polished, successful on the outside—yet inside, we’re stranded.
We don’t know how to get ourselves to the next level. At first, it feels discouraging.
Left unchecked, it can slip into something deeper—disappointment, even depression.
The positive?
I’m on a first-name basis with the AAA guys.
Do I rethink owning a classic car?
A little—but only for a moment. It’s a learning process.
And it reminds me: at 57, I’m not too far from the age of my Mustang.
I’ve made the easy fixes, but sometimes the breakdowns are deeper, and that’s when I need help too.
Who’s Your AAA?
The good news is that just like AAA and my mechanic get me moving again, you don’t have to stay stuck. There’s help when you feel stranded. But you need to pause long enough to ask the right questions:
-
Am I being still and letting God work?
“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) -
Am I leaning into relationships?
“There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24) -
Am I walking with wise counsel?
“He who walks with the wise grows wise.” (Proverbs 13:20)
Your plans will sometimes leave you stranded.
But with God, wise relationships, and the right counsel—you can get un-stranded.
Coaching can be your “Life AAA,” helping you get out of the intersection and back on the road.
Because even when you feel stranded, Anything is Possible.
