Anything Is Possible... Even Resisting Thin Mint Cookies!
Spring is here. The sun is rising earlier, the days are warmer, and your motivation is kicking in. You’re psyched to get in shape for summer. This is your time—you can feel it.
You make a bold decision: No more sweets. No more sugar crashes, no more losing momentum. You’re fired up with resolve…
Then it shows up.
That box of Thin Mints you ordered from the Girl Scouts weeks ago. Or maybe you walk into a birthday party and see those amazing mini cupcakes that always hit the spot.
And that familiar voice whispers:
“One won’t kill me.”
No, it won’t kill you.
But it might cost you something far more important: momentum, trust in yourself, and belief in what’s possible.
This is the moment—the crossroads between immediate gratification and long-term transformation.
The cookie is a test. A test of vision. A test of alignment.
And the one who believes anything is possible sees it for what it really is: a decision with direction.
Jeff Olson in The Slight Edge puts it this way:
“The difference between success and failure is not dramatic. In fact, the difference between success and failure is so subtle, most people miss it.”
That cookie is subtle. But so is compromise. So is regret.
Because what happens when you cave?
-
You push your goal a little further out.
-
You feel that slight crack in your integrity.
-
You wake up Monday needing to start over—again.
But what happens when you hold the line?
-
You strengthen your resolve.
-
You make a deposit into your future.
-
You become the kind of person who follows through.
Same goes for the days when time is short. You planned for 45 minutes at the gym… but you’ve only got 7. Do you quit—or do you move anyway?
Someone who believes anything is possible sees those 7 minutes as a gift. A chance to protect momentum and prove they’re in it for the long game.
So here are your two challenges:
-
Refuse the next “cookie.” Whatever breaks your momentum—recognize it and choose against it.
-
Win the next 7 minutes. No matter how small, use them. Action builds belief.
This is how you win—not just the day, but the future.
Consistency compounds.
Small wins stack.
And yes—anything is possible... even resisting Thin Mint cookies.
